The Animal Care and Control Division responds to the greatest amount of service requests than any other division within the City of Victorville with the exception of both the Fire and Police Departments.

VVAPL provides sheltering services for the City at this time. Here is a list of animal shelters in the area....

California State Laws Now in Effect

• Tethering a dog to a stationary object for more than three hours is illegal, punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
  
• Leaving an animal in any unattended motor vehicle under conditions that endanger the health or well-being of an animal is a crime punishable by a fine, jail or both. Dangerous conditions include: extreme weather, lack of adequate ventilation, lack of food or water, and other circumstances that could cause suffering, disability, or death to the animal.
  
• Increased penalties for animal fighting
  
• The State now required to create a plan for evacuating pets in case of a disaster

  Victorville Animal Control encourages all animal owners to become familiar with laws protecting animals. Practice responsible pet-ownership by spaying or neutering your dog or cat, and licensing and micro chipping your pets.

  Looking for a Lost Dog or Cat?

  All animals picked up within the City limits of Victorville are taken to the Victor Valley Animal Protective League (Apple Valley Shelter) on a daily basis, Monday through Friday. They are located at 21779 Zuni Rd., Apple Valley, CA (760) 247-2102.
