Fire Administration/Operations
The Victorville Fire Department was founded in 1926 and currently protects over 73 square miles and a residential population of 113,927.
On July 5, 2008, the San Bernardino County Fire Department began providing fire suppression and paramedic services for the City of Victorville through a contract approved by the City Council. On August 1, 2009, that contract was expanded to include Fire Prevention, CUPA, and Emergency Services.
In 2012, San Bernardino County Fire, Victorville Division, responded to 16,270 calls for service. The Victorville Division staffs seven fire stations 24/7 with 68 full-time and 30 paid/call fire fighters. Six personnel staff the fire prevention bureau and one Environmental Specialist IV staffs the CUPA. Support staff operates out of Fire Station 311 and City Hall which includes three clerical positions and one Staff Analyst.

Seven suppression companies are available for response 24/7 within the Victorville Divison. Each suppression company consists of a Captain, Engineer, and Firefighter. One of the crew members is a licensed paramedic. Crews operate:

Southern California Logistics Airport Fire/Rescue

The San Bernardino County Fire Department, Victorville Division, staffs the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting ( ARFF ) program for the City of Victorville at the Southern California Logistics Airport ( SCLA ). Three ARFF units are staffed 24/7.
SCLA is a fully certified FAA Part 139 airport capable of handling all aircraft currently in service. SCLA is an “Air logistics” facility putting emphasis on repair, repainting, conversion, and flight testing of various types of airplanes. It is also the troop arrival & departure point for soldiers training at the Army National Desert Training Center at Fort Irwin.
SCLA fire crews respond to about 100 calls per year, and operate the following equipment:

Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA)
The CUPA's mission is to protect life, health, environment and property throughout the City of Victorville from accidental releases, improper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials and wastes through coordinated efforts of inspections, emergency response, enforcement, and site mitigation oversight.
CUPA personnel permit and inspect hazardous material handling and hazardous waste-generating businesses to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. They apply their education, training, and experience in chemistry, manufacturing processes and industrial hygiene to identify and assess the use and storage of hazardous materials. They also oversee the proper handling, treatment, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by many industries. These inspections ensure compliance with applicable laws or regulations assists businesses through pollution prevention and waste reduction. Haz-Mat personnel also investigate and resolve complaints alleging hazardous material and hazardous waste mismanagement.
In 1996, the City of Victorville became a Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) to administer the following programs within the city of Victorville: the Hazardous Waste Generator Program, the Hazardous Materials Release Response Plans and Inventory Program, the California Accidental Release Prevention Program (Cal-ARP), the Aboveground Storage Tank Program and the Underground Storage Tank Program.
